Free SoftwareCREWES Educational Resources is a collection of software and printed material offered to the general public for educational use without charge. Educational use specifically means that the materials offered may not be used for commercial gain or in a commercial context by companies who are not sponsors of CREWES. The material available in this section includes a limited subset of CREWES research which in its entirety is available only to Sponsors. Sponsors may download complete versions of the CREWES software applications and access current research papers, including the 700+ page annual research reports, from the relevant links on the home page. Passwords are required in those sections. Companies interested in the work being done by CREWES are encouraged to become Sponsors and thereby gain access to the full spectrum of CREWES research.

CREWES Educational Software and Data Release (MATLAB)This software and data release is intended to accompany the textbook Numerical Methods of Exploration Seismology with algorithms in Matlab (NMES) by Gary F. Margrave. The textbook, software and data are part of an ongoing project to upgrade the CREWES Matlab software library for use in teaching exploration seismology. The CREWES Matlab library is a very large collection of geophysical routines that has grown by accretion with very little regulation. The software here is a subset of the CREWES library in which each module has been checked for consistency and accuracy. (However, no warranty of correctness is given or implied. Use the software and data entirely at your own risk.) As the topics in NMES are expanded, more algorithms will be upgraded and transferred from the old CREWES library to this new one. Eventually, the entire CREWES Matlab library will be included here and described in the book. To download the software, click this link.
