Eric Rops
M.Sc. Student
Supervisor: Larry Lines

Eric Rops completed his B.Sc. (Honors) in Geophysics at The University of Western Ontario in 2014. Throughout his studies he completed a number of work terms, including a summer prospecting for iron ore on Baffin Island, sixteen months in East Africa processing airborne geophysical data, and more recently, completed two seismic interpretation projects both onshore and offshore.

For his undergrad thesis he explored the idea of detecting localized frequency anomalies in well logs using the S-Transform. For his M.Sc. research, he is continuing with the petrophysical theme, and working on predicting bitumen viscosity from well logs using geostatistical methods, under the supervision of Dr. Larry Lines.

Eric is also involved with the CSEG as the lead organizer for the UofC Monday Talk Series, as well as the Sponsorship Coordinator for the CSEG Geophysical Industry Field Trip. In his spare time he enjoys basketball, and coming up with theories about the next Star Wars movie.
